The alleged driver of the car was brought before Sheffield Juvenile Court, charged with the murder of Mrs Grant and possession of a bladed object.
The youth, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, wore a light blue shirt with an open collar under a navy blue jumper and was flanked by a female and male dock officer behind safety glass.
With a mop of curly dark hair, the youngster answered ‘yes’ when asked to confirm his name and address.

A 12-year-old boy appeared in Sheffield Juvenile Court today and was charged with murder. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on April 11
The court heard that Ms Grant died on April 5 after suffering ‘catastrophic injuries’ when she was knocked to the ground and run over by her own car.
The boy smiled and fidgeted several times during the 30-minute trial as District Attorney Gary Crothers outlined the case against him.
Three police officers sat at the back of the juvenile court and two members of the youth team and two social workers sat in the pit of the court.
Ms Grant’s silver Honda Accord was parked in the driveway of her semi-detached house in Hemper Lane, in the Greenhill area of the city at 7pm on Wednesday, April 5.
Mr Crothers said the incident was captured on CCTV.
Ms Grant, who was described as a ‘beautiful soul’, was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by the car.
The court heard that the defendant is accused of being the driver of the car and that he had a silver kitchen knife with him when he was arrested.
Couch chair Alan Kelleher sent the boy to secure accommodation to “protect the public” and “prevent further jail time.”
The boy will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on April 11.
Ms. Grant’s family released a statement after her death saying: “Marcia was a warm, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and a pillar of support to her community.
Her loss has already sent shock waves through everyone who knew her or was lucky enough to be accepted into her job.
“We are asking for privacy at this time as further investigations are underway and the family tries to come to terms with this huge loss.”
A number of floral tributes had been left outside the property with police tape covering the driveway.
A message read: “I am so sorry for your loss.
“She was a beautiful soul.”
