A 10-year-old boy shot and killed another 10-year-old boy after the youth “bragged” about a stolen firearm he had hidden in his father's car.

The child, whose name was not released because he is a minor, found the loaded gun in the car when he went to get cigarettes from the car for his father.

He then opened fire, killing Keith “KJ” Frierson, 10, who was riding his bicycle in the Sacramento community of Foothill Farms on Saturday around 4:30 p.m.

After the shooting, the suspected shooter fled to a nearby apartment. The young victim was found bleeding from his head and neck, Sthe Acramento County Sheriff's Office said.

Life-saving measures were carried out on site by emergency responders and the Metro Fire Department. He was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he later died.

The suspected shooter's father, identified as Arkete Davis, 53, reportedly tried to hide the stolen gun in a garbage can before being taken into custody, accused of murder after the crime. NBC News reported.

His 10-year-old son, who is charged with murder, was also arrested and taken to the Sacramento County Juvenile Detention Center.

Keith “KJ” Frierson was fatally shot by a 10-year-old boy over the holiday weekend after the suspected gunman reportedly discovered a stolen gun was his father's car. KJ was described by his aunt as a “very smart, kind, loving and respectful” child

“He had a whole life left to live,” she cried.

The victim's aunt created a memorial with candles, a teddy bear, red balloons and white flowers near the spot where her relative was shot in the senseless act of violence.

Erika told the news station that her cousin had left the apartment to ride his bike when his life was cut short.

“He wasn't out there even 15 minutes and the little boy shot my nephew,” she said.

Davis is being held on $500,000 bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail.

He was indicted on several firearm-related charges, including child endangerment and accessory after the fact, the sheriff's office said.

He is scheduled to appear for his arraignment on Wednesday.

It's not clear when Davis' son will next appear in court, but in Sacramento, juveniles must be charged within 48 hours of arrest or detention.

No bail will be applied, but minors may be released to parents or legal guardians, news media reported.

Erika told the news station that the boy's father is as much to blame as the youth who killed her nephew.

“Every parent in their right mind should know how to keep a gun safe,” she said.

'My cousin's blood is on your hands. You all allowed your son to do this to my ten year old nephew.”

She made an emotional plea: Your parents need to know how to store your guns. Teach your children good things. Because this wasn't right.'
