Boxing Day sales horror as teenager is stabbed at Westfield Parramatta in front of terrified shoppers
A teenager has been stabbed in a busy shopping center and rushed to hospital in a terrifying incident that unfolded in front of onlookers.
Emergency services were called to Westfield Parramatta at around 4pm on Thursday following reports of a stabbing.
According to police, a 17-year-old boy suffered lacerations to his arms and back.
The injuries are not likely to be life-threatening.
Police claim the incident happened following an argument between a group of ‘young people’.
The attack is believed to have been targeted and police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The teenager was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital in a stable condition.
“Initial investigations indicate that the incident followed an argument involving a number of young people and it is believed the attack was targeted,” the police spokesman said.
“There is no ongoing concern for public safety.”
Police have cordoned off the crime scene, will investigate and are calling on anyone with information to come forward.
