Boxing champion Tyson Fury’s plans to demolish a house and build a £4m dream mansion in its place are scrapped ‘after sheltered bats were found nesting in the loft’

  • Tyson Fury, 34, wanted to tear down the house and build another on the site
  • But some bats have made that dream impossible, so it will extend the current one.

Tyson Fury has abandoned plans to tear down a house and build another £4m mansion on its site after bats were found sheltering in his loft.

The boxer, who is the heavyweight champion of the world, wanted to have a six-bedroom property, complete with a pool.

But investigations of the current property in Cheshire turned up some surprising guests.

Two protected species of bats were found in the loft, causing a major headache for the 34-year-old beater.

Now Fury and his wife Paris, 33, have abandoned their plans and will instead simply expand the current property.

The Sun reports that the bats meant the boxer would have needed a special license from Natural England before he could carry out the job.

That’s because it’s an offense to intentionally or recklessly disturb winged creatures of the night.

If he had still wanted to go ahead with the demolition, Fury would have had to erect bat boxes in the trees for the flying rodents.

Instead, they are adding to the current eight-bedroom mansion with an extension, if planning permission is approved.

Plans also include designs for a garage and a leisure suite, which will feature the luxurious facilities of a hot tub and plunge pool.

They want a new music room in the basement, games room, breakfast room, garden room and cinema.

In a design statement, Fury’s planning agent said the leisure facilities were “incidental to the enjoyment of the dwelling”.

Fury and Paris currently live with their six children in a £1.7m home in Morecambe, Lancs.

But the new house is in Cheshire and is closer to his brother Tommy and his Love Island girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, both 23.

Cheshire East council planners will decide on the application in April. So far, no one has objected.

Fury’s agent said there was “no reasonable basis” to reject, as the proposals were too far from local homes to “impair their amenities”.

MailOnline contacted a representative for Mr Fury for comment, but he had not responded by time of publication.
