Australian boxer Harry Garside debuted his new romance at the Melbourne Cup, revealing the happy couple met at a New Year’s Eve party and have been dating ever since.

The 27-year-old champion boxer made an inspiring comeback to the ring at the Olympics after being cleared of domestic violence charges by former partner Ash Ruscoe.

However, he failed to progress beyond the first round in Paris, later telling Nine that he “felt like a failure” after training for 20 years to fall at the first hurdle.

In August, Garside revealed he had met someone new and fallen in love, but her identity was only revealed today.

Garside and his new partner, Sonny, spoke exclusively from Flemington to Ny Breaking Australia ahead of the race that holds a country back.

Sydneysider Sonny, 21, works in PR and said she met the boxer at a New Year’s Eve party.

“And I took her out on a date two weeks later,” Garside added.

The Australian boxer explained that he was very happy with the new relationship and is still interested in boxing.

‘I think I will definitely continue boxing. “I still have the fire in my belly, but nothing is locked up until next year,” he said.

The boxer was dramatically arrested at Sydney Airport last year as he returned home after appearing on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in South Africa.

He was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Ash Ruscoe, which he adamantly denied, and police later dropped the charges after his legal team produced video evidence that they said showed his ex was the alleged aggressor.

Garside later said the trial ordeal was the “best thing that ever happened to him.”

The Australian boxer suffered heartbreak during the Paris Olympics

Last year he was accused of assaulting his ex Ash Ruscoe and police later dropped the charges after his legal team produced video evidence they say showed his ex was the alleged aggressor.

“The way it happened and what I was accused of was just so tough. I look back on it now and realize it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” he told The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show in September.

“It was like the time in my life where I really had to stand up for myself and become my own friend and take care of myself.”

He added that at a particularly low point during the ordeal, he began collecting “evidence” about why he was a good person, which significantly boosted his morale.

“That was a bit of a turning point where it’s like I have to change this narrative, this belief. “I need to stop collecting evidence that I’m a terrible person,” he continued.

‘I started collecting evidence that I am a good person, and I am. I’m doing my best. If a friend were to call me right now, I would do my best to help them as best I could.’

Garside said he would never have been pushed to do so had he not endured the challenging ordeal, which he said helped him become a better person.
