  • The BBC has fallen victim to this joke several times in recent years

The World Indoor Bowls Championship was interrupted by a sex noise joke while live on the BBC.

Harry Goodwin was facing Stewart Anderson in the lead singles semi-final when the porn sounds came from the speakers.

The audience saw the funny side as they burst into laughter as the BBC commentator played it down as a ‘sound problem’.

He said, ‘Well, we have a problem somewhere, but hopefully it will be resolved quite quickly. Sounds like a good point, pardon the period.”

Goodwin couldn’t keep a straight face as he almost immediately grinned and looked around to see where the sound was coming from.

The ‘sex noise’ joke has happened a number of times in recent years, most notably during a live broadcast of an FA Cup match last year.

During the BBC’s coverage of Wolves vs Liverpool in January 2023, Gary lineker and pundits were embarrassed as the noise disrupted them for more than 10 minutes in the studio.

Youtuber Daniel Jarvis, from Gravesend, Kent, subsequently claimed responsibility for the pornographic sounds, although it was not known how he gained access.

The same prankster was up to his tricks again last month when sex sounds interrupted the Euro 2024 draw.

Former Manchester City star David Silva and much of the crowd were stunned when the sounds started playing, and everyone seemed powerless to stop them.

And in November 2017, Emma Vardy, then the BBC’s political correspondent, was interrupted by the racy audio while reporting live on Brexit.

It led to suggestions that the BreX-classified noises broadcast to television screens across the country could have been caused by a pair of ‘remoaners’.
