Bournemouth ‘trigger Tyler Adams’ £20m release clause’ after US star’s move from Leeds to Chelsea collapses
Bournemouth have activated Tyler Adams’ £20 million release clause in a bid to bring the Leeds midfielder to the Vitality Stadium this summer, according to reports.
Tipped with a departure from Elland Road following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship last season, the 24-year-old looks to have found his next destination on the south coast.
Chelsea were previously close to signing a deal with Leeds before seeing the move collapse, despite the two clubs initially agreeing a fee above his £20m release clause.
Mail Sport first revealed that Bournemouth were interested in signing Adams, even with the USA international currently unable to play due to a hamstring injury.
Adams suffered the problem in the latter stages of last season after going down during a training session in March and had to undergo surgery to correct the muscle injury.

He has not appeared for club or country since then and will only be available after September’s international break following a hamstring injury and surgery on the issue.
Chelsea’s commitment to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia meant a deal for Adams was seen as one too many, especially as he won’t be fully fit to play until next month.
Bournemouth remain determined to bring the creative star back to the Premier League after Leeds were relegated last season.
The Cherries wanted to move negotiations forward quickly, with Brighton, Aston Villa and Manchester United, among others, eyeing Adams during the transfer window.
