Bournemouth are eyeing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah after having a bid for Porto striker Evanilson rejected.

The Cherries are looking to replace Dominic Solanke and have turned to Nketiah after his move to Marseille fell through.

The striker had set his sights on a move to Ligue 1, with the Gunners and the Riviera club having long been in negotiations over his transfer fee.

Arsenal refused to change their minds about the value of the youth player, who scored six times and set up three more in his 36 appearances in all competitions for the north London club last season.

Personal terms had been agreed between Nketiah and Marseille, but the club have instead opted for Lens forward Elye Wahi to bolster their attacking line, having brought in former Manchester United man Mason Greenwood earlier in the transfer window.

Bournemouth saw Solanke leave for Tottenham last week in a transfer record-breaking move, with the striker paying £65million for his departure.

Tottenham Hotspur exercised the striker’s release clause in a bid to land their player after Ange Postecoglou considered attacking options including Brentford’s Ivan Toney and RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda.

It is believed that Nketiah is keen to move before the end of the summer transfer window in a bid to gain more playing time after failing to secure a regular place in Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up.

Crystal Palace have also long been huge admirers of the 25-year-old, who is valued at around £27million.
