Bournemouth have confirmed the arrival of Evanilson from Porto for a club record fee of £31.5million.

There is a potential £8.5m owed in additional costs, taking the total fee to £40m, and a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

The Cherries were interested in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, but Evanilson’s arrival could pave the way for Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest to step up their efforts to sign the 25-year-old.

Brazilian striker Evanilson replaces Dominic Solanke, who left for Tottenham last week for £65million.

“We are delighted to bring someone with such a tremendous track record to AFC Bournemouth,” said Chief Executive Neill Blake.

Evanilson will wear the number 9 shirt after completing his move to the Premier League club

‘Evanilson is a highly sought-after striker and the fact that we are bringing him to the club for a record fee is testament to our ambition and intention.

‘After scoring 25 goals last season, including goals in the Champions League, we believe his experience and qualities, despite his age of 24, will help us realise our ambitions for the future.

‘We are well known for our desire to bring a striker to the club and the fact that we were able to complete this deal so quickly is thanks to our recruitment team.’

The Brazilian began his career in his native country before signing for Porto in 2020, where he has scored 60 goals and provided a further 21 assists in 154 games.

In the 2023/24 season, Evanilson scored 25 times in all competitions, including four times in the Champions League.
