Bournemouth are close to signing 19-year-old AZ Alkmaar left-back Milo Kerkez for £18m, with the Kersen fending off interest from AC Milan, Benfica and Lazio

  • Milos Kerkez is regarded as one of the most talented full-backs in Europe
  • Bournemouth are close to signing the 19-year-old to the Vitality for £18 million
  • AC Milan, Benfica and Lazio also showed interest in the left back

Bournemouth is approaching the left back Milos Kerkez from AZ Alkmaar.

Mail Sport announced their interest in the Hungary international on July 3 and talks today are for a deal worth around £18 million.

Kerkez, who doesn’t turn 20 until November, has modeled himself on Bayern’s Alphonso Davies and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez from whom he learned while playing at the Italian club.

Indeed, it was Paolo Maldini, regarded by many as the greatest left-back of all time, who saw the potential in Kerkez and called for him to join Milan as a 17-year-old.

However, despite training with the first team and playing for their reserves, he grew frustrated with a lack of opportunities and although Milan wanted him to be patient and loaned out, Kerkez asked to leave for Alkmaar.

There he came to the attention of Benfica and Lazio, but has now opted for Bournemouth.

The Cherries are also considering another bid for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott after a £15m offer was rejected.

Wolves have since come in with £19m plus add-ons – which was also turned down – and are pushing to sign the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ ahead of their rivals this week.
