Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s home is ‘swatted’ on Christmas Day just weeks after hosting controversial ‘no whites’ holiday party for ‘electeds of color’

The mayor of Boston had to deal with some uninvited guests on Christmas Day when police banged on her door in response to a hoax shooting report.

Michelle Wu was beaten as she sat at home with her family, less by a malicious caller than two weeks after she was dubbed the “Wu Klux Klan” for hosting a controversial “no whites” party for “elected people of color.”

The caller told police he shot his wife at the $850,000 home in Tony's Rosindale neighborhood after coming home to find her cheating on him.

Moments later, the Democratic mayor opened her door to find police with guns drawn and two ambulances outside.

“For better or for worse, my family is kind of used to it now, and we have a good system with the department,” Wu said. WBUR.

“When real emergencies happen and resources are deployed in this way, it's concerning.”

Boston's first female mayor has faced a firestorm of criticism, claiming she may have violated anti-segregation laws for her Dec. 13 party for the city's elected officials at the city-owned Parkman House, where all whites were deliberately excluded.

News about the party only surfaced when a city hall employee accidentally sent the invitation to all city council members.

But the mayor was unrepentant, claiming that “some people who are concerned may not have all the information either.”

“We celebrate all kinds of connections and identity, culture and heritage in the city,” she added.

'Yesterday we hosted our official Hanukkah lighting at City Hall.

“We've had tree lightings and we want to be a city where everyone's identity is embraced, and where there are spaces and communities that we can help support.”

Prominent Boston conservative Howie Carr accused her of “bringing the party back into apartheid.”

“What if a white mayor had held a whites-only party in a city-owned building after specifically banning all non-white members of the City Council?” the veteran radio host wrote in a Boston Herald editorial.

'It would have been the end of the world, a national story that would last for days, if not weeks. On the night of the party there would have been riots, looting and violence.'

The hoaxer called 911 at 5:30 PM on Monday and said he had tied up both the woman he had just shot and the man he found her with.

The dispatchers recognized the address as Wu's and contacted the security officer stationed outside. They then said he had not heard any gunshots from inside.

He then waited for help to arrive before hammering on her door.

Wu said her house has been smashed up a number of times since she took office as mayor in November 2021 and police said they had no confirmation of the motive for the latest hoax.

It took place just hours after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was gunned down for “about an eighth time” at her Georgia home, days after she celebrated meeting infamous “Q-Anon shaman” Jacob Chansley.

“My local police are the GREATEST and shouldn't have to deal with this,” she tweeted as she enjoyed Christmas Day with her family.

“I appreciate them immensely and my family and I are joyfully celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ!”

The 49-year-old conservative was beaten twice in August alone.

On August 23, Rome police said officers “responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot multiple times at an address within the city limits.”

According to the police report, the caller said a man had been shot inside the MTG home and that a woman and children could still be inside.

When the police showed up at her home, she assured them there was no problem and that the call was a swatting incident.

The police report went on to say that officers “received a second phone call from the suspect who used a computer-generated voice stating that he/she was angry about Ms. Greene's political views on the rights of transgender youth.”

The next day, her home was again targeted by a prank caller who told police they had shot her family and threatened to kill any officers who came to the door.

Jewish sites in the United States reported 199 “swatting” incidents in a 24-hour period earlier this month, while anti-Semitic incidents have increased in the wake of the war in Gaza.

And the FBI established the nation's first Command Center in May 2023 to coordinate federal, state and local responses to the fight against swatting.

Celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher, Tom Cruise, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, Jason Derulo, Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber and Clint Eastwood have fallen victim to the practice

And at least two victims have been shot dead by police in the US in response to false reports.
