Borussia Dortmund have reportedly decided not to re-sign Jadon Sancho and have turned their attention to securing the services of Weston McKennie.
Sancho – who moved from Dortmund to Manchester United two years ago for a £73million fee – has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga giants.
The winger has struggled with consistency during his time at Old Trafford, leading Dortmund to look elsewhere during the summer transfer window.
Mail Sport revealed last month that Sancho is one of several players United are considering selling if they receive the right price, which they believe is around £45 million.
But Dortmund has turned its attention to US international McKennie after watching him develop in Serie A and the Premier League, according to Image.

The German giants also reportedly believe they don’t need to sign Sancho as they already have 17-year-old wunderkind Julien Duranville.
Dortmund are confident in Duranville’s ability to impress next season, having signed a long-term contract with the youngster last season.
McKennie recently returned to Juventus after a six-month loan spell at Leeds United ended in the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
According to Gazzetta dello Sportnegotiations between Dortmund and McKennie would progress well.
The USA international performed well during his time with Juve’s first team, but struggled to gain a place in the starting eleven under Massimiliano Allegri.
It is also well known that the Italian side are looking for players in the summer transfer market and could therefore be open to parting ways with McKennie.
McKennie made 96 appearances for Juventus, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists before being loaned out.
His last game for the Serie A side came in January when he played 90 minutes in Juve’s win over Atalanta.
McKennie is eager to secure more regular first-team football and Dortmund could offer him that opportunity.
Dortmund are also confident in Duranville’s ability and believe the youngster will add more to the squad than Sancho.
The 17-year-old represented Belgium at U19 level and made 10 appearances for Anderlecht seniors before signing for the German side.

Last summer he even played 45 minutes against West Ham.
Coming from Anderlecht’s renowned academy – which has produced the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans, Dries Mertens and Vincent Kompany – it’s no wonder Dortmund has high hopes for Duranville.
Duranville, nicknamed ‘Blitz’ for his exciting pace and dribbling, is expected to impress during the 2023-2024 season.
Sancho – who joined United two years ago for a £73 million fee – has struggled for consistency
The arrival of McKennie to Dortmund and the club’s confidence in Duranville will prevent Sancho from returning to the German side this summer.
The news will come as a blow to Sancho, who has struggled to cement his place in the Manchester United first-team after arriving two years ago.
In total, Sancho played 79 times for the Red Devils and scored 12 goals. However, the 23-year-old defender fell further and further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old has also struggled to cement his place in the Three Lions squad, with his last call-up coming in October 2021.
