Boris Johnson v the Covid inquiry – podcast

The Covid Inquiry has been sifting through the testimonies of scientists and politicians for several weeks in an attempt to pass judgment on the UK's handling of the pandemic. Many have had their say about the leadership provided by then Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

According to Dominic Cummings, Johnson was like a broken shopping cart lying around. To some scientists, the Prime Minister seemed bewildered by the scientific details he had to understand. There are claims that Johnson missed vital meetings and prioritized writing a book when he should have been preparing the country for the health crisis.

Now, however, he gets the chance to explain the decisions he made and the reasons behind them. Aletha Adu', says the political correspondent of The Guardian Michael Safi. She explains why the stakes couldn't have been higher – with grieving relatives who lost loved ones to Covid expecting an apology, and Johnson watchers suggesting he could soon make a political comeback.
