Borderlands 4 is coming, Gearbox announces at Gamescom

The one-minute, 29-second teaser trailer is pretty vague. First, we see a planet bursting at the seams with a purple glow, then crashing into a crystallized atmospheric shield. As carnage unfolds on the ground, the camera zooms in on a fiery pile, with a robotic hand reaching out to grab an iconic Borderlands mask.

“In this next installment of the definitive looter shooter, players take on the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they battle their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to plunder on a brand new planet,” Gearbox wrote in the YouTube trailer’s description.

When it comes out in 2025, Borderlands 4 coming to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Borderlands 4 will be the newest mainline game since Borderlands 3 in 2019 — only two spin-offs, Wonderland by Tiny Tina And New stories from the border areas were released in 2022. Notable is the Borderlands film, called Border areas — was released in August and straddled “the line between good and bad,” according to Polygon’s review.
