A frustrated boomer has gone viral with a diatribe blaming an ‘overpaid’ and ‘corporate’ government for ruining everything he cherished about life in Australia.

The lengthy post, written by Adelaide man Gary J Matthews and titled ‘The Commondebt of Australia’, was written on Facebook earlier this month.

Matthews accused the government of selling “the souls” of the Australian people as it began to compete with private enterprise and trade with China.

He claimed that while children could once roam the streets in complete safety, residents now lived in a constant state of fear and stress.

Mr Matthews began his post by describing life in Australia in the 1980s, when milk was delivered to homes in glass bottles, petrol was cheap and business was booming.

“About 40 years ago everyone had a job everywhere, in fact mothers stayed at home and all families lived happily on the father’s wages,” he said.

“We had convenience stores and milk bars and delis, and hardware stores all over the city and country.

“Our rural towns were a hive of activity because they were very strong communities and connected by an extensive rail network that now lies dormant across the country.

Flea markets everywhere on weekends. All of our food was fresh and local. Our milk and bread were delivered fresh every morning in recyclable glass bottles.’

Mr Matthews said just a few decades ago that petrol was cheap, everyone had a job and everything, even submarines, was proudly made Down Under.

“We built planes, boats, submarines and battlecruisers, ships, warships. buses. Locomotives, diesel-electric trains, but also the tracks, and you can add hundreds more to that list,” he wrote.

“And everything was “PROUDLY MADE IN AUSTRALIA.”

Mr Matthews claimed that by buying items with a ‘Made in China’ label, Aussies were only funding China in their mission to buy Australia out ‘under our feet’.

“We are making so much profit to China that now they can afford to buy us out, which is exactly what they are doing and our government is helping them do that,” he said.

He reminisced about when he could buy tailored clothes at department stores like Myer and David Jones, where clerks used a tape measure, and recalled a recent incident when he tried on a few shirts in a store before taking them to the store. brought cashier to pay. .

When he asked the woman about the “second-hand price,” she told him the shirts were new.

Matthews said Australia “started going downhill” as councils began buying up shopping centers and caravan parks in areas popular with tourists.

He claimed the government began making deals with foreign countries under ‘free trade agreements’ that ‘completely wiped out’ Australian trade.

“These foreign countries were just allowed to come in and start taking over and raping and plundering all our resources,” he wrote.

“They started to evict our farmers from their land and then sold it to these foreign lands.”

Mr Matthews claimed the government ‘invented’ things like GST, excise and levies and cuts to emergency services, police and public housing after realizing how much had been lost.

“These new Corporate Government politicians laughed in our face and gave themselves HUGE pay raises and they all patted themselves on the back knowing that WE are so STUPID and STUPID that we wouldn’t know what’s going on!” he said.

“Now they are telling us to tighten our belts and lose what little we have left to repay the HUGE DEBT they left us all after giving other countries billions in foreign aid to set up their countries with at your own risk…”

Mr Matthews admitted that when he walked past the empty Holden Plant in northern Adelaide he ‘literally cried’ over what has happened to Australia.
