Australia’s new low-cost airline launched a massive sale with tickets starting at $49 for flights to tropical destinations.

As part of its market launch, budget airline Bonza is offering savings to tourists looking to travel to 12 destinations in NSW and Queensland.

Bonza’s commercial director, Carly Povey, said it was time for travelers to see “more of their own backyard for less.”

Flights from the Sunshine Coast to Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Rockhampton have the lowest prices, starting at $49.

A quick trip to the Whitsunday Coast, Mackay or Newcastle, also taking off from the Sunshine Coast, will only set travelers back $59, while flights to Albury and Townsville will cost $69 to save money.

A plane to Avalon, Cairns or Mildura from the Sunshine Coast is priced at $79 and the cost leaves plenty of money left over to spend on excursions, accommodation or nights out.

“We are delighted to deliver on our commitment to make air travel more accessible,” said Ms Povey.

‘We promised choices and better connectivity to the regions for less and we are more than delighted with the support of our mission.

‘Today we begin to make travel a possibility for the many, not the few.

Bonza will gradually roll out more destinations after the Civil Aviation Safety Authority awarded the airline its Air Operator Certificate on January 12.

Gladstone, Bundaberg and Toowoomba Wellcamp will be added to their list of Queensland stops, with Avalon and Tamworth added in NSW.

Melbourne will also be included in its flight path and locals will be able to travel to 10 different locations in the city.

Travelers looking to get cheap airfare can purchase flights through the Fly Bonza app or from a travel agent.

A quick trip to the Whitsunday Coast, Mackay or Newcastle, departing from the Sunshine Coast, will only cost travelers $59, while flights to Albury (pictured) and Townsville from the same location will cost $69 to save money.

Bonza CEO Tim Jordan said the airline targets “average Australians” as “workers, teachers, children and carers”.

“The excitement for what we are about to deliver is palpable and the timing couldn’t be better,” said Mr. Jordan.

“Demand for domestic travel is high and Australians deserve to make travel a basic right for many, not a luxury for a few.

Jordan added that the approval was “historic” for the nation’s aviation sector, as it marked the first major new airline for Australia since the introduction of Tiger Airways in 2007.
