Bonnie Tyler, 71, shocks fans with ‘miming fail’ as she performs on This Morning

‘It’s like watching a foreign ad dubbed into English’: Bonnie Tyler, 71, shocks fans with ‘miming fail’ as she performs ‘live’ on This Morning

Bonnie Tyler has been charged with impersonation after performing her hit single, Total Eclipse Of The Heart, “live” on Wednesday’s This Morning.

The singer, 71, appeared on the show to discuss her new memoir and her hit’s 40th anniversary, telling hosts Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson: ‘I never get bored of singing it.’

But moments later, when she closed the show with a performance of the song, she was called out for “lip syncing,” with fans comparing her to a doll and saying it looked like a foreign language dub.

Shocked viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts, joking, “Leave Bonnie Tyler alone, she’s been singing that song for 40 years straight and she couldn’t be bothered to sing it today #ThisMorning [sic]’;

Ever wondered what it would look like to see a character from Thunderbirds sing? Well, thanks to #thismorning, we got to see Bonnie Tyler’s fantastic total eclipse of the heart recreated by Gerry Anderson’s team of puppeteers.”

Others added, “At least put some effort into mimicking ffs”; it’s like watching a foreign ad dubbed into English’; What was the point of having her on, I might as well have played the video! #this morning’; What were you watching ???#mimingfail’;

“I was hoping to hear her voice now. That’s too bad’; ‘Miming failed #this morning #bonnietyler’; Come on Bonnie honey, we Welsh should be able to hold a tune, not MIME’; Wow what a disappointment with lip sync Bonnie Tyler #ThisMorning

‘If you are going to mime, at least practice beforehand!!’; Bad impersonation also on #ThisMorning’; @BonnieTOfficial. You have enough years to practice miming. You would hope it would be a little better. It was like singing a completely different song #ThisMorning #Bonnie #eclipse

“Bonnie Tyler…This morning…No No No!!! Shouldn’t have disturbed…’; One of the best voices and she mimics. That’s so disappointing. #This morning.’

MailOnline has reached out to Bonnie’s representatives for comment.

Earlier in her appearance, Bonnie spoke of receiving an MBE from Prince William for services to music.

She confessed, “I was nervous about meeting William, even though I had met him a year before. But I went in and he said to me ‘oh how nice to see you again, I saw you in Cardiff’, and I thought ‘like I’d forget’, so I said yes, and I saw your children.’

Bonnie, recognized for a career spanning five decades, said at the time: ‘I’m just a girl from a small town in Wales who loves to sing.

“So to be recognized in this way for that is very important to me and my family and friends.”

Bonnie is no stranger to a TV gaffe, and in 2021 she stunned fans when she forgot the name of her album during an interview on Loose Women.

The Welsh singer struggled to remember the titles of her recent music releases as she flipped between various topics, including the state of her hair and her brief encounter with the Pope.

Presenter Ruth Langsford told the star: “We’ll talk to you about the album coming out now, but are you always looking for that huge ballad?”

Bonnie replied, “Oh, I have a great songwriter at the moment called Steve Womack.

“I actually have some great songwriters, including Desmond Child, and they’ve written some great songs for me on my new album that’s called, uh…” Bonnie paused as she rummaged in her head for the name of her new album.

“The Best Is Yet To Come,” she said as the Loose Women panelists shouted the name in unison before bursting into laughter.
