Bong Joon-ho Kills So Many Robert Pattinson Clones in Mickey 17 Trailer

Robert Pattinson loves playing a weirdo, so it’s no surprise he jumped at the chance to play over a dozen of them in his new film Mickey17 years. The first trailer for the sci-fi comedy directed by ParasiteBong Joon-ho arrived on Tuesday and it’s every bit as weird, funny and horrifying as we’d hoped.

The film is set in the future, when humanity has taken to the stars for long journeys through space. But space is a dangerous place for ordinary people. Meet Pattinson’s character, Mickey Barnes, a man who is cloned over and over again and sent on the kind of horrific, life-threatening missions that no normal person would sign up for. The trailer only gives us a taste of these missions and the variety of horrible ways Mickey dies, but each one seems weirder and funnier than the last. This goes on and on for Mickey, until one day, two of his clones discover they’re alive at the same time — something that should never have happened.

The trailer is a little vague on the details of what happens next, but it’s nice to be left with a bit of mystery. And when the people behind that mystery are one of the best filmmakers alive and an actor with a nose for interesting projects, it’s pretty easy to trust them, especially when the first trailer is this weird and fun.

Mickey17 years will be released in theaters on January 17, 2025.
