Bondi Rescue reunion: Lifeguard Anthony ‘Harries’ Carroll reunited with the baby he brought back to life on New Year’s Day

A Bondi Rescue lifeguard has shared a heartwarming video of his emotional reunion with a ‘clinically dead’ baby who he resuscitated and brought back to life.

Anthony Carroll, also known as Harries, had just finished a busy 13-hour shift at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on New Year’s Day earlier this year and was on his way home when he was approached by a distraught man who warned him of a ‘dead ‘ baby who had somehow fallen and hit his head on the road.

Despite being off duty, Harries grabbed a defibrillator kit and ran to the promenade with several colleagues to help save eight-week-old Magnes, who had stopped breathing and showed no signs of life.

Magnes’ distressed parents and a large crowd of onlookers watched as Harries desperately attempted CPR before placing a breathing mask and bag over the baby’s face.

He is eventually revived and lets out a scream before paramedics take over and take the baby away in an ambulance.

Ten months later, Magnes has since miraculously made a full recovery and recently returned to Bondi Beach for a special visit with his grateful parents.

A delighted Harries shared a video of the heartwarming reunion.

“I resuscitated this little man Magnes and pretty much brought him back to life,” he begins.

“This is pretty much the best day of my career as a lifeguard to have this little boy in the tower with me.”

The camera then zooms in on the boy’s parents.

“This is my dream to do this for you, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my career,” says the lifeguard.

Harries promised to help Magnes’ parents, who are struggling financially.

“I’m so grateful and happy that I was in the right place at the right time,” he captioned the video on Instagram.

“The family and little Magnes need help as the cost of medical bills has been very burdensome for the family. I will do whatever it takes to help his family and this beautiful child.”

The incident was featured on hit Channel 10 show Bondi Rescue earlier this year, where an emotional Harries choked back tears as he relived the harrowing ordeal.

“If this is a baby, this is the most important thing ever,” he explains in a segment to the camera, his eyes welling up.

“A child’s survival surpasses anything I’ve done in my career.”

“The dad was literally on top of me and to be a dad and look up at him and see the water coming out of his eyes.

“You know, a father for a father, you just want to give it your all.”

Not long after Magnes was rushed to the hospital, lifeguards were relieved to hear that the baby would likely pull through without any major complications.

“So excited, wow. Just great,” says Harries in disbelief.

‘The inhalation was everything.

“Hopefully that little guy comes down and becomes a little boy and maybe one day he even becomes a lifeguard and remembers what we did for him.”

The show’s narrator, Channel 10 star Osher Günsberg, was one of many viewers to comment on Harries’ heartwarming reunion.

“Mate, I needed this good vibe in my week as a beacon,” he wrote.
