Bondi Rescue lifeguards robbed as thieves break into their garage to take the show’s iconic beach buggies for a disastrous joy ride
Bondi Rescue lifeguards found themselves in a dangerous position after 'emergency vehicles' were stolen from their tower on Thursday evening.
The trained surf lifesavers, made famous by the hit Channel Ten show, arrived at work on Friday morning to discover thieves had broken into their watchtower.
Harrowing footage shared on Instagram showed the criminals breaking open the metal door of the storage facility to steal the secured vehicles.
The thieves set their sights on essential rescue equipment and stole two beach buggies often used in rescue situations in the adrenaline-pumping TV series.
Fortunately, one buggy was found stuck in the sand along the beach, but the other is still currently missing.

The buggies are used every day by the lifeguards to patrol the beach and allow the group to quickly find a way across the sand to carry out rescues.
Footage of the break-in on Instagram shows the thieves entering the locked tower through a roller door and smashing the metal corner to gain access to the inside of the building.
It is not known whether the group took the two vehicles for a joy ride along Bondi Beach before leaving in one of the buggies.
NSW Police have been contacted for comment.
