Wild scenes unfolded at a popular shopping mall where an attack is believed to have taken place before bystanders pinned the suspect to the ground and police arrived to arrest him.
Video footage of the incident shows three people arguing on the main shopping street at Bondi Junction in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Wednesday morning.
There were cries of dismay as passers-by rushed in to help a figure with a gray hood over his head.
Ultimately, there were seven people holding the person in a kneeling position or standing above him ready to help.
“Can someone call the police? Can someone call the police?” a woman’s voice called out.
Five people were later seen holding the person down as sirens blared and two police officers ran to the scene.
More officers arrived on the scene and five officers were filmed pinning a man with short, dark hair to the ground.
A police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that officers arrived at the scene at around 9.15am to reports of an assault.

“Three people – a man and two women – suffered minor injuries and did not require assistance from NSW Ambulance service,” the police spokesperson said.
‘A man was arrested at the scene and taken to Waverley Police Station where he is assisting police with their inquiries.’
