Blowflies are found throughout Australia and can cause severe pain to those who accidentally get caught in their tentacles.
Most people will know if they have been on the receiving end of a blowfly because its body will appear in large red welts.
Although deaths are very rare, some people may experience allergy-like symptoms, including feeling short of breath.
Stung people are advised to place the affected area in hot water and remove any excess stingers.
The teen Christmas Day emergency came as tens of thousands packed Bondi Beach for the holidays, bringing sunny skies and warm weather for an idyllic day on the sand.
