Bombshell Sydney Sweeney is unrecognizable in dowdy clothes playing boxing star Christy Martin
Sydney Sweeney looked unrecognizable as she transformed into boxer Christy Martin on Sunday to film David Michôd’s new biopic in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The 26-year-old Everyone But You star, who is known for her blonde bombshell look and hourglass curves, wore a brunette curly wig, blue bandana and baggy clothes to channel Martin’s ’90s heyday – years before her husband James tried to kill her.
She covered up her famous curves in a brown shirt, blue hoodie and sweatpants and wore minimal makeup as she was escorted onto set.
The star’s chest appeared to have been flattened with tape before her transformation.
Sweeney stars alongside Ben Foster in the film – who plays her scorned husband James – with the X-Men star showing off his own incredible transformation with a blonde wig and facial prosthetics.

Christy, 56, originally from West Virginia, is known as ‘The Coal Miner’s Daughter’ thanks to her father’s job and is credited with putting women’s boxing on the map after taking on Deirdre Gogarty in front of a sold-out crowd at the MGM Grand Las Vegas in 1996.
She has graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, appeared on talk shows and even made guest appearances on American sitcoms.
Yet her life without the cameras was anything but glamorous. Christy spoke to the Daily Telegraph about how she was abused for twenty years by her husband, James ‘Jim’ Martin, who was also her trainer.
On November 23, 2010, he stabbed Christy several times and shot her at least once in the torso, leaving her for dead.
The attack reportedly occurred after an argument at home; Christy survived the attack.
In June 2012, Jim was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty of attempted murder and manslaughter.
Christy now works as a promoter and is married to Lisa Holewyne, a former boxer whom she met in the ring since 2017, after coming out as a lesbian after her marriage ended.

In May, Martin revealed she was ecstatic about the actress who took up the challenge to play her and said she would also like to help her train for the role.
While speaking about the project, which will be directed by filmmaker David Michôd, she shared TMZ that she is excited about the casting, especially considering Sweeney’s experience in MMA and combat sports.
The Emmy-nominated actress said she is ready for the “physically and emotionally demanding” part in the biopic, which will be released at the Cannes Film Festival.
The Hall of Fame boxer gushed over Sweeney and also completely refuted claims that the Euphoria star ‘isn’t beautiful and can’t act’, as previously stated by a top Hollywood producer.
“I think she’s young, beautiful and talented,” she said of the leading lady.
She added that Sweeney is “about to make a film that fathers will watch with their daughters in 20 years to raise awareness about domestic violence.”
Martin also explained the importance of the biopic as it is about more than just her boxing career and journey.
“I want this film to raise awareness about domestic violence, the challenge of sexuality and the overall underdog narrative,” she said.
“I’m the daughter of a coal miner from a small town in southern West Virginia who made a mark in a sport that wasn’t taken seriously: women’s boxing.”
And while Martin wasn’t involved in the casting and hasn’t spoken to Sweeney yet, she said she was honored that the Euphoria alum will take on the role.
She added that she would like to help her with boxing training, which Sweeney already has experience with.

Sweeney previously said she “wrestled and did kickboxing from ages 12 to 19.”
“I was eager to get back in the ring, train and transform my body,” she told Deadline earlier this week.
Additionally, Martin added that she would like to make a cameo as a nod to her fans.
