A 'bomb' was placed on a car belonging to a family flying the Palestinian flag.

NSW Police were forced to send a bomb disposal robot to the site of the family's Botany home on Friday afternoon.

They found a jerry can with a small amount of fuel in it and rags in the open lid.

Bolts and a cigarette lighter were taped to the device with a handwritten note that read, “ENOUGH! GET FLAG! A CHANCE!!!!'

The bomb squad described it as an “inert improvised explosive device.”
