Bold Deng: Distressing scenes as grieving family members of baby-faced tradie, 20, shot dead in drive-by shooting wail at cops – as details emerge about his chilling link to slain cocaine kingpin

A distraught relative of a baby-faced tradie who was shot dead in a ‘targeted’ attack outside his family home was seen wailing at police to be allowed to enter the crime scene – as details emerge about the gang’s links victim with a slain cocaine baron.

Bol Deng, 20, was reportedly shot on a quiet street in a western Sydney suburb during the school run on Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the home on Stella Street, in Fairfield Heights, just after 8:30 a.m. after reports of multiple gunshots.

Deng, an apprentice carpenter, became unresponsive and could not be saved.

After Daily Mail Australia revealed the victim’s identity, it emerged that his brother Dut Deng had been arrested in early January over the death of Comanchero bike boss Alen Moradian, who was shot in a Bondi Junction car park last June.

NSW Police Chief Inspector Michael Mclean said Bol was also known to police.

“Its history and other associations will be part of the future investigation,” he told reporters.

He added: “We are confident that this appears to be a targeted shooting.”

On Tuesday afternoon, devastated family members and friends flocked to the murder scene.

But one woman, believed to be a close relative, began shouting and wailing at officers, out of sadness and frustration at not being allowed beyond the police tape.

Several detectives and police officers tried to calm her down before she was eventually led away.

She was slumped against a neighbor’s wall, her head in her hands.

The shots that killed Deng were said to have been fired by someone driving a “dark-colored sedan.”

The gray Toyota Camry was later found burned out several miles away.

Earlier, a neighbor who lives with his parents on a street just 100 meters away said he heard “at least five” gunshots on Tuesday morning.

“I ran outside and saw a shirtless man running toward me, presumably to see where the car was going. He looked shocked and had his hand on his head,” the neighbor told Daily Mail Australia.

‘There were a dozen children on their way to school who didn’t know whether to run or sit on the corner. I think it’s such a shame that they had to experience something like this.’

He said he then saw a woman “screaming hysterically” at the house.

“She took a young child in the back of the car, which makes me think the family was getting ready to go to school and the shooter was just waiting,” he said.

‘The family was raided by police in January over the Bondi motorcycle murder. One of them was arrested and charged. This was certainly retaliation for that.”

The man’s father said that by the time they heard the gunshots and went outside, the car was gone.

“We heard gunshots, but by the time we got out we didn’t see anything; they were gone,” he said.

‘He must have been a professional man. He just disappeared. And there were kids going to school and just running around.”

The man, who asked to remain anonymous, said he believed the family had African ancestry and had only recently moved to the area.

Jay Tunga, 20, who said he was best friends with Bol, claimed the victim had no links to the crime.

“All the news media claiming that he was involved in underworld crime, that’s all fake,” Tunga told reporters.

‘He was a beautiful person, kind-hearted. He was a friendly guy. It breaks my heart.’

Asked why police would say Mr Deng was known to them, Mr Tunga said: “He didn’t like that.

“He’s a black man, they just assume that.”

A crime scene has been cordoned off and the investigation continues.
