A Boiling Point drama series has been announced by the BBC, following the success of Stephen Graham’s 2021 film.

Production will begin early next year, and the five-part installment will act as a sequel, taking place six months after the original story ended.

Vinette Robinson’s character, Carly, will become the head chef of her own restaurant, while many other cast members will reprise their roles, including Stephen and his company Matriarch Productions.

BBC executive producer Rebecca Ferguson said: ‘The opportunity to expand this breakthrough hit into five new must-have television episodes was too good to miss.

“It is an absolute pleasure to build on my existing relationship with Philip Barantini and work with this incredibly talented team of filmmakers to bring their vision to BBC One and iPlayer viewers.”

Boiling Point shows the action in a trendy London restaurant on a busy day just before Christmas.

Shot in one take, it follows Chef Andy – played by Line Of Duty star Stephen – as he navigates an endless carousel of obstacles.

These range from misplaced orders to a rogue gallery of diners, including a bunch of “influencers” who insist on ordering something off the menu, an arrogant patriarch hosting a family dinner, and a man hoping to propose to his girlfriend.

On the busiest night of the year, he must deal with personal crises and professional problems, all under the watchful eye of an unexpected guest who happens to be a health and safety inspector.

Directed by Philip, the photo was originally slated to be shot in eight takes, but the looming COVID-19 lockdowns left production teams only half way through. The third take was used.

Boiling Point was based on a 2019 short film starring Stephen and followed a similar story at London’s Jones & Sons restaurant on the last Friday before Christmas.

Stephen recently starred in the ITV series, The Walk-In, which depicts the shocking true story of a far-right extremist who bought a Roman knife to slaughter a Labor MP after studying the murder of Jo Cox.

Far-right pedophile Jack Renshaw bought a 19-inch replica Roman sword and announced his plans to assassinate West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper as part of a ‘white jihad’ in a Warrington pub in July 2017.

The then 23-year-old, from Skelmersdale in Lancashire, also threatened to kill Detective Victoria Henderson, who was investigating him for tending to two young boys. His plans were later foiled by a whistleblower.

Exciting: Production will start early next year and the five-part installment will act as a sequel, taking place six months after the original story ended
