Rep. Lauren Boebert opened up about her 17-year-old son’s friend’s pregnancy, saying she doesn’t want to “shun” about sin, but intends to teach him about “redemption.”

The 36-year-old Republican from Colorado revealed at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) earlier this month that she would become a grandmother at age 37.

Dave Rubin of the “Rubin Report” asked the conservative firefighter if her eldest of four sons Tyler getting his girlfriend pregnant was “challenging” one of her beliefs.

“Of course I’m a Christian and there are standards we like to uphold, but none of us do it perfectly,” she said. “We can nitpick about what the Bible says is right and wrong, but I think just having that attitude of heart to want to serve God is so important.”

She added that she and her son would discuss “redemption and how to move forward.”

Speaking to a crowd of CPAC conservatives earlier this month, Boebert said, “I’m going to tell you all in a public setting for the first time that I’m not only a mother of four boys, but I’ll be a ‘gigi’ in April for a brand new grandson.’

She took the opportunity to praise teenage mothers who do not have an abortion.

She explained to Rubin that her son would be the third generation of teenage parents in the family.

‘My mother, she was 18 when she had me. I was 18 when I had Tyler, and now he’s 18. One of his first comments was, “Mom, it’s hereditary.” I said, ‘Nice try. It doesn’t work that way.’ But I’m really proud of him and my grandson’s mother for being responsible, because they could have taken a different path and both chose life,” she said.

Boebert added of the young couple’s choice to forego an abortion: “It wasn’t something I was supposed to scare them off with, I had the conversation very calmly once we found out, let me know if you think otherwise, I just want to have a talk with you if you decide to go in a different direction, and both were very excited and wanted to move forward and welcome this life into the world.’

Boebert revealed that her son planned to attend the University of Florida after graduating from high school, but with a baby on the way, he would instead take petroleum engineering classes at a local community college.

A teen mother herself, Boebert dropped out of high school in 2004 when she had her first son, the one who is now expecting a child. She earned a GED certificate in 2020, just before winning her first grade school.

The right-wing congresswoman has often invoked God in her political ethos, saying last June that she was “tired” of the separation of church and state.

“The church should run the government, the government shouldn’t run the church,” she said at the time. Our founders did not intend it that way. And I’m tired of that separation of church and state that’s not in the Constitution, but in a stinking letter, and it doesn’t mean what they say at all.’
