A Florida police officer has resigned after crashing into a civilian’s vehicle because he was watching porn while behind the wheel, an official report shows.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Tristan Macomber initially lied about the cause of the Nov. 6 crash, stating it was because his brakes locked up.
But bodycam footage obtained by TMZ showing that the crash reveals that there was more to it.
When investigators viewed the video, they saw Macomber holding his phone at the time of the collision.
When questioned, he claimed he was scrolling through text messages.
“I could see in the upper right corner of the screen that D/S Macomber was holding a cell phone in his right hand,” an investigator wrote in the report.
Amid further questioning, Macomber admitted to using his device to access explicit content, the report said.
The video shows Macomber driving his patrol car when he suddenly turns the steering wheel quickly before a crash occurs and the airbag deploys.

A subsequent review of his bodycam footage and an investigation led to Macomber admitting he was watching porn at the time of the crash
Sirens can be heard as he composes himself and lets out a loud moan.
“Son of ab***h,” he shouts as he gets out of the car and throws his phone on the driver’s seat.
“Gosh damn. Yeah, that damn king was bad,” he sighs as he pulls himself together and tells a concerned eyewitness that he is “good.”
He then approaches the car he hit, which had stopped to let a school bus pass.
‘Hello ma’am, are you okay? I’m so sorry,” Macomber says to the driver who tells him she’s fine. “My brakes locked up, are you okay?” he adds.
Macomber violated several policies by lying about the incident, using his phone inappropriately and not wearing a seat belt during the crash.
Investigators said Macomber initially told them he was talking on a group chat.
The crash was so violent that Macomber’s airbag deployed. He initially stated that his brakes were locked
However, after investigators reviewed his bodycam footage, Macomber was forced to confess that he was watching porn at the time of the collision
However, they viewed the images and clearly saw images on the phone at the time.
Macomber then said these were sent within the group chat, but investigation revealed no such photos or memes were present.
Macomber had been with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office since 2021.
He resigned from his position because he was in danger of being fired. NBC reports.
