Body-positive influencer labelled a ‘hypocrite’ for editing her Instagram photos and figure
Body-positive influencer Karina Irby has been ‘caught’ editing her Instagram photos, despite her insistence not to.
Social media sleuth John Dorsey this week shared a series of videos in which he berated Karina, owner of the Moana Bikini brand and 1.2 million followers, and labeled her a “hypocrite.”
Dorsey said he was stunned to discover she was Photoshopping her content, especially since her “entire brand is built on being real.”
However, Karina hit back at the claims on Thursday, telling Daily Mail Australia that while she’s adjusted herself somewhat in the past, she’s come a long way since then.
She said she thinks she is the “most open, honest and transparent creators on social media in 2023.”
She added that Dorsey’s posts are “here to create hatred towards me, bully me and bring me down.”

“This has got to be the biggest amount of hypocrisy I’ve ever encountered writing these stories,” Dorsey began in a clip.
“She’s known for encouraging girls not to edit their photos or get rid of their cellulite…she says you have to be the change you want to see.” I am the change I want to see,” he said before emphasizing that the editing is failing.
Dorsey pointed out curved walls and distorted backdrops in her photos — including the metal of her shower bending into one. However, Karina still posts her cellulite online.
“Why do I say she’s a hypocrite? Well, Karina, it looks like you’ve been pulling your waist in in this… bending the metal in your shower… because you’ve made your a**e bigger.”
‘Remember this picture? Look in the corner. You cooked it, the corner is bent!’ he added.

“Karina, I’m disappointed in you, you’ve built a whole brand by being real, but you’re not real. A caption says it’s dangerous for body image, but if you do it, do it better!’
He also shared an old statement saying she wasn’t “proud” of her “old edits,” just eight hours before posting a before-and-after photo where the background was changed.
He said that a former employee of Karina had also contacted him to tell him that she had photoshopped her photos on social media.

‘Get out of here!’ John is ready.
Karina told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday that it’s “manufactured drama” and she’s long been open about her “journey when it comes to self-love and acceptance on her socials.”
“It’s pretty obvious when you look at my content — posts, reels, stories — that you’re getting the authentic, unedited, and unfiltered version of me. That might go down the wrong way with some people,’ she said.
“For this reason, I spend more time on TikTok videos, because it’s a more authentic and transparent place.”
“Being in the public eye with years and years of strangers saying I’m ugly, fat, coarse skinned, had work done etc can take a toll on a person. That’s why I talk a lot about online bullying, because of the effects it has had on me in the past.”
Karina said she tried to speak to Dorsey but claimed he was trying to “bully” her.
“I tried to speak openly and maturely with the person who manages this account, but they weren’t interested in having a conversation,” she said.

“Obviously the nature of this person’s post is not to have an open/honest dialogue and they are only here to create hate against me, bully me and put me down.”
“Basically, he’s a ball-buster, enjoying the hits that come from bullying someone he knows nothing about.”
Karina made headlines this week for giving up sugar for 130 days.
The Aussie beauty said she got rid of bloating and stomach aches, as well as her anxiety and brain fog by popping sweet treats.
However, she said she misses “chocolate binges” and still has skin issues despite the health kick.

“All in all, the pros far outweigh the cons and I’m so incredibly pleased with my results,” she said.
In January, the 33-year-old founder of Moana Bikini revealed that she used to restrict her diet and exercise obsessively when she was younger because she felt the pressure to be thin.
She shared her experience in a candid Instagram story, posting a throwback photo of herself in her teens looking extremely slim.

While Irby stressed that she “had no disorder,” she said her relationship with food and exercise was unhealthy at the time, and that her desire to stay thin was motivated by a twisted belief that it was the only way to be popular .
She’s previously said she’s been cheated on and received death threats for sharing photos of her cellulite, but hit back saying, “If my cellulite upsets you that much, then the problem is you.”
She added, “I could easily stop posting and get mad about it, but that’s not who I am.”
