A man’s body has been found washed up on a beach south of Sydney.

NSW Police were called to Stanwell Park beach, about 60km south of Sydney’s CBD, before 7.30am on Tuesday after the grim discovery.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, has yet to be formally identified.

Wollongong police officers responded to reports that a body had been found on the beach and immediately established a crime scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death is ongoing, with the cause yet to be determined.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
