A dead body has been found in a burnt-out car following a grass fire on a vacant lot.

The body was discovered inside the vehicle after it was found on Johnson Road in Bundaberg, about 370 kilometers north of Brisbane, about 8.20pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a grass fire.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the incident was being treated as suspicious after the car was found near the area.

“Officers found a vehicle also on fire nearby and a deceased person was located inside the car,” the spokesman said.

“The scene of the incident has been announced and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
