Body is discovered in Austin’s Lady Bird Lake where at least five other people have been found dead in recent months

A body has been discovered in Lady Bird Lake, where at least five other people have been found dead in Lake Austin, Texas, in the past year.

The body was found at around 1.30pm on Monday, but no details were provided about the victim’s name, age, gender or cause of death.

Police were notified of the floating body after a 911 call informed them that a body had been spotted 6 feet on the north side of Lady Bird Lake, officials said.

When police arrived in the 300 block of West Caesar Chavez Street, the person in the water was officially declared deceased, Austin Police PIO Ariel Crumes said at a news conference.

The body was the sixth body recovered from the lake since January 2023. The others so far have been men; only four of the five had their ID released.

Their disappearance and deaths remain a mystery, with some wondering if there is a serial killer on the loose in Austin – with some locals saying they have long feared someone has been drinking drinks in the city’s hotspots

Last week, Austin police said a woman was being sought in connection with several men who were drugged and robbed in the city’s downtown. The New York Post reports this.

When DailyMail.com contacted authorities to find out if the bodies found in the lake had any connection, officials did not comment on time for this report.

On February 13, 2023, Jason John was last seen on Rainey Street, a week before he was found in Lady Bird Lake near 30th Avenue.

An autopsy report obtained by Fox News Digital revealed that a “transient bystander” witnessed John stumbling into the water. The medical examiner ruled his death an “accidental drowning.” KXAN News reported.

But John’s parents believe there is more to their son’s disappearance and death.

On March 5, 2023, the body of 40-year-old Clifton Axtell washed up near 1100 West Riverside Drive, Lady Bird Lake. The married father of two went missing on Feb. 25 near Stubb’s Bar-B-Q restaurant in downtown Austin.

The medical examiner called Axtell’s cause of death “undetermined,” and Austin police said it was “not suspicious at the time.”

Two weeks later, on April 15, 2023, 30-year-old John Christopher Hays-Clark was found near the 2700 block of Canterbury Street, about two miles from where the other men were located.

Austin police said, “There is no evidence of foul play or suspicious circumstances.”

Hays-Clark was the father of a 12-year-old son. His longtime partner, Reegan Aparicio, told DailyMail.com after her partner’s body was found that she believes foul play was involved in his mysterious death and disappearance.

She claims police have provided little to no information about the investigation.

Another four unidentified bodies were recovered from the lake in 2022, but their investigations are closed, the news source said.
