Authorities say a police officer shot and killed a man who tried to rob an armored car employee in Tennessee and then, after running into a nearby deli, attacked the officer with two knives.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A police officer shot and killed a man who tried to rob an armored car worker in Tennessee and then attacked the officer with two knives, authorities said.
Murfreesboro police on Thursday released body camera footage from the shooting the day before, blurring Steven James Murphy’s face and stopping the video moments before he was shot.
Police were called after Murphy, 44, tried to rob an employee who was refilling money at an ATM around 9:15 a.m., Murfreesboro police spokesman Larry Flowers said at a news conference.
The worker pointed a gun at Murphy, who then ran into a nearby deli, Flowers said.
The body camera footage shows Officer Adam Claiborne opening the deli door and saying “hey” to Murphy, who is standing behind the counter. Murphy then turns and attacks the officer with knives in both hands above his head.
Claiborne yells at Murphy to drop the knives before shooting multiple times. Murphy died a short time later at the hospital, Flowers said.
The officer, the armored car worker and six deli employees were not injured, Flowers said.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
