Bodies of Bayesian disaster victims Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah are flown back to Britain in a private jet after autopsy

The bodies of the victims of the Bayesian yacht disaster, including British tech magnate Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah, have been flown back to their families from Sicily.

Seven people died when the Bayesian yacht, a £30 million superyacht owned by the founder of Darktrace, sank in just 16 minutes last month after being hit by a torrential downpour.

Lynch, 59, and his 18-year-old daughter were killed, along with Morgan Stanley International President Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judith, as well as New York attorney Chris Morvillo and his partner Neda and chef Recaldo Thomas.

They have since been repatriated on private planes and their funerals are expected to take place in each of their home countries in the coming days. Italian media defeated.

Autopsies have been conducted on the victims in Sicily in recent days. Preliminary results suggest that all but one were trapped below deck when they died.

Fifteen of the 22 passengers and crew survived the sinking of the Bayesian last month by climbing onto an inflatable life raft.

Autopsies performed on victims at Palermo’s Policlinico hospital earlier this month found no water in their lungs, Italian media reported, reinforcing fears they may have been conscious when the yacht sank.

Although their bodies have since been returned home, doctors in Palermo are still investigating whether they died from drowning or from a lack of oxygen in the cabin.

All of the victims of the disaster were passengers, except for the yacht’s chef, Recaldo Thomas.

His body, found in the sea near where the Bayesian sank, was the first to be recovered.

The other victims – apart from Hannah, who was found in her cabin – were in another room.

Italian media reported last week that it was Hannah’s mother and Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, who went below deck to wake them and inform them that the ship was about to sink.

The electronic equipment is now being examined to see if any data can be retrieved from it, or if there is video footage showing how the yacht sank. This footage could potentially solve the mystery of why and how the ship sank last month.

Three crew members, including 51-year-old New Zealand skipper James Cutfield, 59-year-old British chief engineer Tim Parker Eaton and 22-year-old Briton Matthew Griffiths, are now being investigated for involvement in causing a disaster and manslaughter.

However, this does not necessarily mean that charges will be filed. It is up to the investigating judge to decide whether a full trial will take place. This will happen after the investigation is completed.
