Bobby Brown reveals New Edition is REUNITING for a tour beginning next year in March

Bobby Brown proudly announced on Wednesday that popular R&B group New Edition is reuniting for a special tour beginning in March 2023.

The talented singer, 53, is just one of six members of the successful group, who rose to recognition in the 1980s with hit songs like Candy Girl (1983).

Bobby, who was previously married to the late singer Whitney Houston, said he believed the group has a “brotherhood” that is “unstoppable.”

The artist happily stumbled towards it TMZ that the group, which formed in 1978, had plans to reunite back on stage for a tour to begin in March 2023.

Over the years, the six members, including Bobby, Michael Bivins, Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant, have done solo projects or formed smaller sub-groups.

However, Bobby revealed that New Edition members have still stayed close, explaining, “That’s the strength of the group.”

The Don’t Be Cruel singer went on to say, “We have a brotherhood that is probably unstoppable. We are proud of what we do.’

Bobby, who founded the group himself in Boston, added to the publication that “New Edition is forever!”

The group recently performed together on The Culture Tour, which began earlier this year in February and ended three months later in April.

While the singer said the upcoming 2023 tour will begin in March next year, the exact dates and locations have yet to be revealed.

After New Edition was formed, inspired by the Jackson 5, the group reached its peak in the 1980s, releasing songs such as Cool It Now (1984).

In 1985, Bobby left the group to pursue his own solo career, recruiting Johnny Gill to take his place.

In 1996, New Edition reunited all of its six members to record an album titled Home Again. In addition to collaborating to record music, the members have gone on other tours over the years for devoted fans.

Earlier in 2011, the R&B group held a 30th anniversary tour in celebration of the release of their Candy Girl album.

In addition to growing a devoted fan base, New Edition has also received numerous awards and accolades for their contribution to the music industry.

Its members have won two American Music Awards, two Soul Train Awards, and a Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award.

In 2017, New Edition received its own Hollywood Walk of Fame star and was officially inducted into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame in February this year.

Towards the end of his short interview with TMZ, the topic of Whitney Houston’s upcoming biographical musical called I Wanna Dance With Somebody was discussed.

The film, which the star admitted he knew nothing about, will premiere later this month on December 23. Notably, Bobby was married to the I Will Always Love You singer from 1992 to 2007.

Moonlight actor, Ashton Sanders, was cast to play Bobby in the movie, and the New Edition member said he hopes the actor can play him.

Directed by Kasi Lemmons, Whitney is played by actress Naomi Ackie, along with Stanley Tucci as Clive Davis, her record producer.

After his first marriage to the late star, Bobby later married his manager and boyfriend, Alicia Etheredge, in 2012. The couple shares three children together.

In all, Brown fathered seven children. During the course of his previous marriage to Whitney, the two welcomed a child, a daughter, named Bobbi Kristina Brown. However, she tragically passed away at the age of 22 in 2015 due to drug abuse.

His son, Bobby Brown Jr., who he shared with ex Kim Ward, also died in 2020 due to drug abuse.
