Bob Saget’s widow Kelly Rizzo says she’s ‘taken for granted’ being able to grieve without children: ‘It’s hard enough to take care of yourself’

Kelly Rizzo recently opened up about how she is doing after her husband Bob Saget died suddenly in January 2022.

The 44-year-old actress — who has been dating actor Breckin Meyer – took her TikTok to reveal that she has “taken for granted” the fact that she did not have to go through the grieving process with the children involved.

‘I do not have children. I don’t want children. I don’t think that’s a secret. But I just wanted to say how much I’ve taken for granted going through the grieving process I went through and not having children,” Kelly began in the candid clip.

“It’s hard enough having to take care of yourself and it kind of touched on what it would be like to actually have children, especially young children,” she continued. ‘That you not only have to take care of yourself, which is the hardest part because all you want to do is curl up in a ball, but now you also have to take care of your children.’

Kelly added that because her three “beautiful and wonderful” stepdaughters — Aubrey, 36, Lara, 33, and Jennifer Saget, 30 — were older and adults at the time of Bob’s death, all four of them were able to care for each other. .

“But it just amazes me to see parents who have lost a spouse, but then they have to take care of their children,” she said.

“And I have some dear friends who have been through that and I just want to say, God bless you all, because to have gone through this journey and not only have to worry about yourself, but to make sure that that your children are also doing well is just a whole other level and very underrated I would say, especially for myself because I only had to worry about myself.’

She concluded, “So now I say to all the parents who have had to do this, I see you and I don’t know how you do it.”

The heartfelt TikTok comes a few weeks after Kelly pushed back against critics, saying she started dating too quickly after losing Bob, who died in Orlando at the age of 65 after falling and suffering head trauma at his hotel .

“I’ll start by saying, unless you’re a widow or widower, you really have absolutely no place or right to comment on this because you don’t know what it’s like,” she said on TikTok.

The travel host revealed that it took more than a year after The Full House star’s death before she felt ready to date again. She didn’t start seeing others until 18 months after her husband’s death and relied on support to take that next step.

“In my situation, it was Bob’s daughters, Bob’s friends,” she explained. “They said, ‘It’s OK.’ So I thought, ‘Okay, it must be good.'”

Bob shared his three daughters, Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer, with his ex-wife, screenwriter Sherri Kramer.

Kelly and Bob met in 2015 and tied the knot three years later.

‘Everyone experiences it differently, and it is very personal. Whether someone moves on a month later or ten years later, it doesn’t take away from the love and relationship you had with your partner.’

In the same clip, Rizzo later opened up about her relationship with Breckin, despite not mentioning him by name.

“I was worried about how I would move on and find someone who appreciates what I’ve been through and understands that Bob will always be a part of my life,” she explained.

“That means so much to me because I knew I had to find someone who just had it.”

Kelly and Breckin debuted their romance at a Grammy party earlier this year.
