Bob Marley: One Love new trailer: Kingsley Ben-Adir plays the reggae legend as teaser depicts dramatic assassination attempt amid his fight to overcome adversity in Jamaica

The new trailer for Bob Marley: One Love was released on Tuesday and gives a taste of what viewers can expect from the upcoming biopic.

The film, released on February 14, 2024, stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, 37, as the legendary musician and Lashana Lynch, 36, as his wife Rita.

The dramatic full-length trailer launched Marley to fame in Jamaica as a reggae star with his band, the Wailers.

It then gave a glimpse of the 1976 shooting at his home and his subsequent performance at a Jamaican peace concert.

“No weapon can stop this message,” Ben-Adir's Marley said in the clip, over the iconic song Three Little Birds.

Marley died of cancer in 1981 at the age of 36.

The teaser, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green from a screenplay by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter, also showed scenes of Marley relaxing with his family and playing music for them.

In addition to Ben-Adir and Lynch, the film's cast also includes James Norton, Tosin Cole, Anthony Welsh, Michael Gandolfini, Umi Myers and Nadine Marshall.

Production on the shoot began in December 2022 in London, England, and wrapped this spring.

Earlier this year, Ziggy Marley, 54, Bob's eldest son, took to Instagram to speak about the upcoming biopic.

He shared a promotional image with his 1.4 million followers and began a lengthy caption: “Tomorrow marks the release of the first official trailer for the @bobmarley @onelovemovie.

“Nothing happens until it's time and now it's time to represent the story of our father Bob Marley in a biopic, coming to theaters in 2024.

“You've heard the music and you think you know the man, but do you really understand what he's been through and the moments that have shaped him into the person he's become,” he teased.

He then added: 'Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and starring Kingsley Ben Adir as Bob and Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita, this film gives you the first glimpse of what it was like to be with the legend, to to see his pain. his sorrow, his joy and his redemption.'

The note continued: “Filmed in England and Jamaica, the cast and crew represent one of the most unique creations to ever emerge from a Hollywood studio.

“Authenticity fills the screen with countless Jamaican actors making us proud to represent the culture.”

Bob's first-born son noted that the movie “was filmed in the places where Bob walked, played football and sang like Trench Town and Bull Bay in Kingston.”

He said it is “an artistic creation that we are proud of and that we want you to enjoy to be entertained, but also to be inspired.
