Bob Geldof has unleashed a scathing attack on Donald Trump, calling the presidential candidate a ‘despicable p****’.
The 73-year-old Irish singer and activist didn’t mince words when he shared his thoughts on the US election on The Project ahead of his Australian tour next year.
Americans are going to the polls this week to decide their next president: whether to give Trump a second term or let Kamala Harris make history as the first female American president.
“I have no problem with Harris, but it will be Trump who wins, and that’s true Unspeakably terrifying,” Geldof told the panel on Sunday after a segment on the elections.
“That clown you just showed, a horrible man. He really is a horrible, horrible person.
“So he gets elected president of the most powerful country – everything that happens here, everything that happens in Britain is dependent.”
Geldof added that instability around the world could be worsened or improved by the next US president.
Referring to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, he said: ‘You now have a brute invading Europe and beating up a people who just want to be free.

About Trump (photo), Geldof said: ‘He is a fraudster, he is bankrupt. His entire business life has been built on debt.”
‘You have the horrors in Palestine. You have absolute horror in Sudan – which we don’t read about, but I wake up every morning to twelve emails, and you have a fool who is bankrupt,” he said, the latter referring to Trump.
‘He’s a fraudster, he’s bankrupt. His entire business life is built on debt, which he then defaults on and declares Chapter 11 (bankruptcy).”
However, it was what Geldof said next that had the panel bursting into laughter.
“Apart from that the man is a despicable p****,” he told the stunned panel.
Comedian Dave Hughes commented, “Tell us what you really think.”
Geldof continued: “Seriously, as scary as it is – I would love for that woman (Harris) to win.”
“Some people would say, ‘Look, he was president before we got through it, we’ll get to the other side.’
“We got through it because Covid neutralized everything and everyone and he obviously wasn’t able to deal with that situation.”

And Geldof wasn’t done yet.
“I mean, you’re going to elect a zombie president, you know?” he said.
‘Is he funny? No, he’s not… This guy is a loser and scared.”
Geldof returns to Australia in March 2025 for his show: An Evening with Bob Geldof: Songs and Stories from an Extraordinary Life.
His itinerary includes Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth and marks the 40th anniversary of his historic Live Aid concert, which raised millions of dollars for famine relief in Ethiopia.
