A speedboat accident in Missouri left eight people injured and requiring hospital treatment when a ship they were on ran aground and crashed straight into the side of a house.

The crash occurred late Saturday night near the Lake of the Ozarks, southwest of St. Louis.

The impact after the boat ran aground threw all of the ship’s passengers as it overturned close to the 1.5-mile mark of the Osage Arm.

The boat was a 2014 Nortech boat with powerful engines and a top speed of almost 70 knots.

The passengers, consisting of four women and four men between the ages of 21 and 51, were seriously injured. The group was taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

Two of the victims were from Louisville, Mississippi; two were from Huntington Beach, California; one from Oak Hills, California; one from Glen Ellyn, Illinois; one from Phelan, California, and one from Niles, Michigan, according to Fox 2 Now.

It is not clear if anyone in the home was injured in the collision.

The driver of the boat, identified as 47-year-old Adam Ramirez of Huntington Beach, California, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with serious injury.

Ramirez is known as a motorboat enthusiast.

Later on Sunday, a crane was used to tow the boat away

The investigation into the crash continued on Sunday.

Troopers spent time reconstructing the crash scene using a drone. Later on Sunday, a crane was used to tow the boat away.
