Bluey fan theory on why so many pet dogs are obsessed with watching the children’s TV show

Dog owners have noticed that their pets are “addicted” to watching the children’s show Bluey – and now they’ve come up with a theory why.

Some have speculated that the popular Australian cartoon uses colors that dogs can see, which is why they seem so mesmerized by the show when it begins.

Images and videos circulating on social media show dogs appearing to “watch” the program alone or with their owners on the couch.

It is believed that Jaclyn Byrne spread the rumor on TikTok after she shared a post video of her dog watching the show.

“If you have a pup, play him Bluey. They use colors that pups can see,” she wrote.

In the clip, Jaclyn’s border collie puppy can be seen wagging his tail and appearing excited by the characters.

It has since been viewed a whopping 77 million times and sparked a chain reaction from other dog owners to wear Bluey for their pets.

Dr. Sydney vet Tim Montgomery said FEMAIL dogs are “not completely color blind.”

A dog’s color vision is more like that of people with red-green color blindness. If they’re watching TV, they’re likely to see a flicker in the picture,” he said.

‘This is similar to the look you sometimes get when you try to film something from a screen with your camera. But none of this seems to stop some dogs from watching TV.”

Many on TikTok speculated that the colors were intentionally used by the show’s creators.

“It all makes sense now, wow, that’s so thoughtful of the producers,” one wrote.

“We always play Bluey and then leave our dog home alone, it calms him down,” added another.

“It took me five years to realize that Bluey, the TV show, was made in dog vision colors,” wrote another.

Earlier this year, Bluey fans revealed a devastating theory that mother Chilli suffers from depression, leaving thousands feeling down on the popular program.

Some viewers of the show have noticed some subtle hints indicating that the mother of two is “secretly very sad.”

In an episode titled “Relax,” the Heeler family of four goes on a beach vacation, and when Bluey asks Chilli what her book is called, she says, “It’s about how to be happy.”

Elsewhere in the seven-minute episode, she has trouble unwinding alone on the beach and later tells husband Bandit “it’s harder than it looks” – a sentiment hundreds of mothers would relate to.
