TAMPA, Florida — A blown landing gear tire caused delays for American Airlines passengers flying from Tampa to Phoenix on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were dispatched to American Airlines Flight 590 shortly before 8 a.m., Tampa International Airport spokesman CJ Johnson said.
A video posted on YouTube shows the plane taxiing down the runway when the right rear tire starts smoking and then collapses. The plane eventually came to a stop at the end of the runway and emergency services arrived a few minutes later.
A total of 174 passengers and six crew members were removed from the plane and taken to the terminal by bus, said Alfredo Garduño, spokesman for American Airlines. No injuries were reported. Passengers from the plane were transferred to a replacement flight.
According to Johnson, this has not affected other flight operations at Tampa International Airport.
