A scorching heatwave could see temperatures soar to nearly 40 degrees Celsius in one state, while a cold snap elsewhere will leave Australians shivering.
In Western Australia, Perth The coming days will see pleasant temperatures of around 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures in the north and inland of the state can rise considerably.
“We expect temperatures to get very close to 40 degrees Celsius, but that doesn’t seem likely,” said Angus Konta, meteorologist at Weatherzone.
Although temperatures in the Northern Territory will also reach 30 to 40 degrees, the rest of the country will shiver.
“In the southeast it almost feels like winter is starting again, with a few cold fronts coming through,” Konta said.
“You see these kinds of things happen sometimes around this time of year, where we have almost summer conditions, but in other areas it’s winter conditions.”
Melbourne and Hobart have had cool days, but a cold front is coming through on Friday and Saturday.
“And that will lead to temperatures that are very wintry, around 15 degrees in Melbourne,” Konta said.

‘It could be colder than 10 degrees in Hobart on Saturday.’
Although it won’t be as cold in Adelaide as in Melbourne or Hobart, Saturday is still likely to be a cold day with temperatures dropping to a low of 15 degrees.
“But we could also see some quite cold mornings. On Thursday morning it dropped to 5C and we could see more of those mornings – right through to the start of next week,” Mr Konta said.
The southerly change moves up the east coast, ending the warm conditions Sydney experienced in early spring.
“On Thursday, temperatures dropped to a low of 20 degrees, but the southerly winds made it feel a lot colder,” Mr Konta said.
The weather in Sydney is expected to become milder, but the cold front from Tasmania and Victoria will arrive on Sunday.
“It looks like it will be another cold day with showers hitting Canberra on Saturday,” Konta said.
But Brisbane will be the city that gets the most rain. A trough will come in on Thursday, bringing a wet spell, and more showers are expected on Sunday.
“It’s not necessarily cold, but it’s quite ‘rainy’. However, from Friday onwards there will be a southerly wind that will bring temperatures down,” Konta said.
‘Despite this, there is still a chance that Brisbane will remain dry as showers occur along the coast.’
Brisbane
