Blink-182 HILARIOUSLY plays secret LA-area gig at breakfast chain in a nod to the classic meme ‘What the f**k is up Denny’s’
Blink-182 played a secret gig at a Denny’s restaurant in Long Beach, California on Thursday, October 26, while referencing a classic meme.
The performance, which follows the band’s co-headlining performance at the When We Were Young music festival in Las Vegas, was teased on the band’s social media as well as during their sets at the festival.
Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker played the surprise performance in support of their new album One More Time and upcoming tour. The album is the band’s first since DeLonge rejoined the band.
Blink-182 played Anthem Part 3 from their new album for the restaurant’s customers.

The impromptu performance paid tribute to Houston metalcore band Live Without’s legendary 2013 performance at an abandoned Denny’s.
That event became known as the Denny’s Grand Slam. Years later, a short video from that set went viral, with the singer shouting “What the f**k is up, Denny’s” into the microphone.
That phrase becomes an oft-shared phrase and meme.
Hoppus referenced the meme at the When We Were Young festival on Sunday.
DeLonge had never heard of it at the time.
There were rumors that Blink used the Denny’s to shoot the music video for Anthem Part 3.
That was the only song played during Denny’s performance.
A fan video of the performance showed DeLonge interacting with a child actor, adding weight to rumors that a video of the performance would be made.
