Blind Kansas City Chiefs fan reveals terror after shooting: Was led away by another in the crowd

A blind Kansas City Chiefs fan described the harrowing moment a good Samaritan led her away from danger as gunfire erupted during Wednesday’s Super Bowl parade.

In an interview with NBC News, the unnamed woman stood next to her son and partner and talked about the moment she heard the gunshots during the mass shooting that left at least 21 people shot and one dead.

‘Thank God there was someone there who helped me get to safety with my eyesight. “I am legally blind, and then I got a man to help me,” she said.

The woman said that when she heard the gunshots, a man nearby said shots were being fired before she asked him to help her because of her visual impairment.

“He said, ‘Hey, the shot’s fired,’ and I said, ‘I’m legally blind, can you please help me get to safety,’ and he grabbed me by the arm and just took charge,” said she.

‘I am extremely grateful to him and if he is looking: thank you.’

The woman then became choked up and said she was just relieved that her child, who was missing for an hour during the shooting, is okay. A sentiment that the blind woman’s partner echoed.

“I didn’t know if he was dead, I didn’t know if he was injured, I had no idea,” the partner said.

“It was probably the worst feeling I’ve ever felt.”

Their son said he initially followed one of his mothers before turning around to look for the other, but when he returned he was stranded.

He said he felt nervous at that moment when he heard about six gunshots go off and saw everyone fleeing.

The son soon found one of his mothers before they went to find the other and were reunited.

On Thursday, officials revealed that two of the three suspects responsible for the horror Super Bowl shooting that took place outside Union Station are juveniles. All suspects are currently in custody by Kansas City Police.

At a news conference outside the city’s police headquarters, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said investigators believe the shooting was sparked by a personal dispute between a small group, and that the parade was not targeted.

“This was a dispute that ended in gunfire,” the chief said, adding that a total of 10 people were questioned in the aftermath and further arrests are possible.

Officials said the more than two dozen victims ranged from eight to 47 years old, at least half of whom were under the age of 16.

Graves said the incident appears to have been sparked by rampant gun violence in Kansas City, and that there is no “any connection” to terrorism at this time.

The city’s fire chief said at least eight victims were in critical condition.

Images circulating on social media show at least five people taken into custody following the shooting.

Several of them appear to be minors and were handcuffed and led away by police. It is unclear which of the persons photographed belong to the three suspects. One of the suspects was wearing a yellow Patrick Mahomes as he was handcuffed by police.

The Kansas City Police Department told DailyMail.com that it is not releasing the names of those in the images because they have not been charged.

Police have 24 hours to file charges against those arrested. The suspects appear to have been taken into custody quickly after the shooting began around 3:30 PM on Wednesday.

“I’m sorry this happened yesterday,” Kansas City Mayor Quinton said in a separate news conference early Thursday morning.

‘We have worked hard to put on an exceptional parade, we have spent millions on it, but we have failed to keep everyone safe and I feel great guilt about that.’

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a beloved Kansas City radio DJ, was killed in the shooting as she attended the parade with her husband and her adult son, who was also shot.

Family members have praised her as a “beautiful person” who was “friendly, always calling and checking on family.”

Those close to Lopez-Galvan said she was “the type of person who would jump in front of a bullet for anyone” and that her death has left a “huge void in our hearts.”

Close friends of hers confirmed to the Kansas City Star that Lopez-Galvan died of a gunshot wound to her abdomen during surgery at a hospital.

Witnesses described a horrifying scene of victims being shot to the ground and people trampled during the chaos.

More than a million people were expected to gather in Kansas City for the celebration, adding to the hectic scenes as the huge crowds formed a stampede to safety.

Rick Reichmeier told KCTV that he was separated from his family when the shooting began before witnessing the grisly moment after a woman was shot.

“When I got up there was a lady there, probably about 25 feet away from me, and there was blood coming out of her mouth as they were pumping her chest,” he said.

“I was walking away and I heard a few shots, a few bangs, bangs, bangs, people started running and I ran. Then suddenly people hit the ground, I hit the ground, people fall on top of me.’

Hours after the horrific scene, Travis Kelce continued his victory celebration at a Kansas City restaurant.

The tight end appeared in good spirits as he clutched a beer on his way to the Granfalloon Restaurant and Bar, just hours after being rushed off stage with his teammates when several gunmen opened fire on their horde of fans.

Kelce posed for a smiling selfie with two police officers stationed outside during an ill-timed outing following his antics on stage where he appeared too drunk to speak.

The selfies sparked backlash from some fans, with one saying: “It doesn’t look good for him IMO, just hours after one person was killed and others were injured.”

Others defended the Superbowl star, saying he had the right to go out to dinner with his team, hours after he said he was “heartbroken” over the horror shooting.

‘My heart goes out to everyone who came to celebrate with us and who was affected. KC, you mean the world to me,” he said on X.
