- Blender urgently recalled
- Product sold at JB Hi-Fi
A popular kitchen appliance is being urgently recalled over fears it could overheat and catch fire during use.
Product Safety Australia has announced a recall for the BlendJet 2 portable blender after users reported injuries and property damage.
The recall notice warns that the blender’s metal blades may break during use, potentially causing “serious injury” if the metal pieces come into contact with food or beverages.
If the blender blades accidentally break, they can cause choking or serious cuts.
Users also reported that the blenders overheated and caught fire while charging or during use, leading to burns and property damage.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the blender,” the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said in the recall notice.
Products with serial numbers between 5201000000 and 5542999999 may be affected.
The serial number is located on the bottom of the base.

The blenders in question were sold online and nationwide at retailers including Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, Myer, Costo, The Good Guys, Kitchen Warehouse and Mini-Max.
They were available between October 2020 and November 2023.
BlendJet said in a statement on its website that none of the reported incidents resulted in “serious injuries or significant property damage.”
The company promised to provide a refund or replacement base to “reduce the likelihood of these problems occurring when the unit is used as directed.”
The BlendJet 2 portable blenders currently for sale are not affected by the recall as they have already been updated.
