Blake Lively launches hair care line Blake Brown Beauty: Ryan Reynolds’ wife reveals she’s been working on the project for 7 YEARS calling it ‘a beast to build’

Blake Lively announced that she has created her own hair care line, which she has been working on for seven years. The line will be available exclusively at Target and on her website starting next week.

After rumors swirled earlier this week that she would be launching her new beauty brand, the 36-year-old Gossip Girl alum confirmed her latest business venture, called Blake Brown.

“Since I was a child, through adolescence, early adulthood, motherhood, work life, personal life, whenever, wherever, the most recognizable part of me has always been my personality—right? Not my personality? Oh… My hair,” the mother of four wrote in her announcement.

She continued, “It’s my longest companion in life. 36 years and counting. And like any relationship, it’s healthiest when you take care of each other. To really love it, I found a system that has worked wonders for me, a hack of decades of working with the very best people in the industry and a ridiculous amount of trial and error.”

The actress, who is married to Ryan Reynolds, mused that the lengthy development process went back and forth “between impressive and wtf [what the f**k] takes so long.’

After sharing how she “obsessively” worked on “every detail” of her newest baby, Lively revealed why she created Blake Brown.

“Why create a line if I had products that worked? Good question. I wanted something more affordable but had the same salon/red carpet performance… the highest quality is the most expensive, who knew??” she wrote. “There’s a reason brands often have to compromise, but we didn’t stop until we got there.”

The star revealed that she wanted “scents that felt like perfumes” and that she would “actually buy them as a luxury perfume.”

“I wanted it to be cleaner than the products I was using with great results so I wouldn’t feel nervous about sharing it with family,” she continued. “I wanted it to try to show how beautiful maximum sustainability can be. I wanted it to be vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated without sulfates, silicones, parabens, synthetic dyes, etc.”

Additionally, Lively, a self-described design enthusiast, admitted that it was important to her that the products looked “beautiful” on customers’ shelves, “because that’s valuable space in your home.”

“I was relentless in achieving all of those things at once,” she cheered. “And now I understand why nothing ever achieved all of my goals at once. It was a beast to build. But I couldn’t be prouder of what we created for you.”

The artist, who rose to fame for her role in the franchise The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, shared an additional post in which she can be seen wearing a black leather jacket and red lipstick.

In the photo, her golden locks looked extra glamorous as they were gently brushed to one side.

Since stepping into the spotlight, this babe’s signature honey blonde hair has become one of her most talked about features.

The public’s fascination with her gorgeous locks only grew when she played the role of Serena van der Woodsen for five years on the hit CW drama series Gossip Girl, opposite Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford.

During an interview with People, the Los Angeles-born actress admitted that she’s had “more opportunities” “in the hair care industry” than in her “real job as an actress.”

“I didn’t want to create something that someone else had already created, because I wanted to copy the systems and patterns that I already loved,” she explains of why she wanted to get into the hair care industry.

The name Blake Brown is a tribute to her father Ernie, whose surname was Brown until he married Blake’s mother, Elaine Lively.

Blake is determined to share her hair secrets with the world, telling Vogue that “it’s not like people in the entertainment industry are blessed with better hair. We use a different hair system than the process that’s being promoted in the mass market.”

“I don’t know anyone in my industry who uses conditioner,” she noted.

Lively explained that she learned to replace conditioner with hair masks years ago after her hair became “damaged and broken.”

When asked by Elle how she compares her hair care line to other celebrity brands on the market, Lively replied, “I don’t compare her [my line] to other celebrity brands. I [compare it] ‘to other hair brands in general.’

“I have an unfair advantage because I have a louder microphone to talk about my company than another startup does, because of that celebrity brand label,” she acknowledged. “But because of that, you have a responsibility to make it right. You can’t just ask people to buy your products because they liked a movie or a show that you were in. That’s not respectful to your consumer.”

Her best hair care advice was that the star advised her fans to “take good care of their hair” and that “it will treat you good too.”

“In any good relationship, there’s great communication and mutual respect. I know it feels silly to anthropomorphize her that way, but it’s true. I do listen to my hair,” she said.

Blake Brown will launch the first eight products on August 4.

This package includes two sets of shampoo and conditioner, a pre-shampoo mask, and more, all for under $25.
