Blake Lively almost won a BIG role on Mean Girls, but can you guess which part she auditioned for?

And Mean Girls almost had a very different cast, as Blake Lively was the best choice to play The Plastics in the 2004 movie.
Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she originally auditioned to play The Plastics frontwoman Regina George, while Blake auditioned to play Karen Smith.
speaking to vanity fair, Amanda said: ‘I had flown to Los Angeles for the first time with my mother. It was very exciting.
“I met Lacey Chabert for the first time and Lindsay Lohan was in the room and Blake Lively was playing Karen, and then I was Regina.”

However, the casting directors ultimately decided that Amanda was better suited to play Karen, while the role of Regina went to Rachel McAdams.
Amanad added: “I flew home and they told me…” We think you are more correct for Karen. So I was like, “Oh, gosh, okay, sure.”
In 2021, Mean Girls casting director Marci Liroff revealed that Blake was at one point the best choice to play Karen.
She told Cosmopolitan UK: “We wanted Blake Lively, who hadn’t done The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants yet, for Karen.
“It made it to final tests, but at some point, some of the filmmakers said to keep looking.”
Lacey Chabert recently revealed that she would “absolutely” love to do a Mean Girls reboot one day.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Lacey was asked if she would be up for a return to her role in a sequel.
She said: ‘Absolutely. I think it would be really fun to see where these women are now and if their children are the new Mean Girls. I would love to know what they are doing.

Addressing the film’s writer, Tina Fey, Lacey looked into the camera and said, “Let’s do it.”
Lindsay has also expressed interest in doing a sequel to Mean Girls, previously sharing a photo of herself with the cast and writing: ‘#tbt miss you all… sequel?’
The actress made a recent appearance on The Tonight Show and discussed the possibility of a sequel, saying, “I think that’s up to Tina Fey.”
Mean Girls spawned a made-for-television sequel in 2011 that featured a different cast than the original film.
A stage musical based on the film was composed by Tina Fey’s husband Jeff Richmond and made its Broadway debut in 2017.
