Blackpink singer Lisa says she will ‘forever cherish’ the moment she was awarded an honorary MBE

Blackpink’s Lalisa Manoban said she will ‘forever cherish’ the moment she received an honorary MBE from King Charles III in a gushing Instagram after.

The K-pop star, 26 – who goes by Lisa – shared an excited photo of herself holding up the award, apparently moments after the investiture ceremony that took place at Buckingham Palace last week.

The idol – who hails from Thailand and is known for her rapping and dancing skills – posed for a smiling selfie in a chic strapless gray dress, adorned with a cape, from clothing brand Asava.

She paired the look with white leather pumps from Stuart Weitzman and a BVLGARI watch, creating a sophisticated half-up, half-down look with her raven locks.

Other glamorous snaps in the carousel showed the star posing glamorously in what appeared to be a luxurious waiting room and private car.

‘I never thought I would be standing here and receiving an Honorary MBE, so thank you and I will cherish this moment forever.’

King Charles awarded girl group Blackpink honorary MBEs earlier this year.

The 75-year-old monarch appeared in good spirits as he held an investiture in the presence of the President of the Republic of Korea and the First Lady during their official state visit to the United Kingdom.

He appointed Blackpink members as Honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBEs), in recognition of the band’s role as COP26 Advocates for the COP26 Summit in Glasgow 2021.

The group – who became the most streamed female band on Spotify in March – also rocked Britain when they performed at BST Hyde Park this summer.

Blackpink was first appointed as COP26 Advocates by the UK government in January 2021. Non-UK nationals may be eligible for an award for their work in the UK.

The group released a series of videos aimed at encouraging young people to learn more about climate change, which the government said resulted in “significantly greater engagement” at the top from young audiences.

The band has subsequently been appointed as global ambassadors for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Arriving at the palace in a series of gray and black outfits, decidedly more subdued than their usual provocative looks, the girls lined up and were each presented with their medals by a smiling Charles in the Chamber of 1844.

And it seems the royal family are big fans.

Charles appeared delighted to present the girls with their honorary MBEs, in a video shared by the royal family X.

And earlier, a social media clip outside the Palace captured the moment the Coldstream Guards Band played a rendition of DDU-DU DDU-DU – one of Blackpink’s biggest hits.

After receiving their awards, the girls posed for official photos, including one with the President of the Republic of Korea and the First Lady, who were present to witness the moment.

With dual New Zealand citizenship, Rosé’s MBE is classified as ‘substantive’ (as opposed to just honorary, which goes to foreigners) because she is a national of a British Empire where the monarch is also head of state.

The group also attended the state banquet on Tuesday, where the king honored them in his speech.

He spoke to more than 300 attendees at the state banquet, welcoming them with a touch of Korean: “Yeong-gug-e osin geos-eul hwan-yeonghabnida [Welcome to Britain].’

He also praised Korea’s commitment to the environment despite major changes in the country.

“The Republic of Korea, as one of the few countries that ended the twentieth century with more trees than at the beginning of the century, has always understood this,” he said.

‘It is especially inspiring to see how Korea’s younger generation is embracing the cause. I applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, known collectively as BLACKPINK, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience as ambassadors for the UK Presidency of COP 26, and later as advocates for the Sustainable UN Development Goals.

“I can only admire the way they can prioritize these critical issues while being global superstars. ‘
