Blackie Onassis – drummer of ’90s rock band Urge Overkill – has passed away in Los Angeles aged 57
The music world is once again in mourning, with the sudden passing of Urge Overkill drummer Blackie Onassis on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the band confirmed the death of the drummer (née John Rowan) to the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday.
No cause of death has been released at this time, nor are there any details of memorial services.
Rowan joined the band in 1991 and played drums on their third album The Supersonic Storybook released that year, replacing Jack ‘Jaguar’ Watt on drums.
He was also behind the kit when they released their 1992 EP Stull, which featured the song Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon, which became famous for its use on Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 breakthrough film Pulp Fiction.
