Blackett shooting, Sydney: Man shot in the face in second suspected gangland hit in just two days as city’s underworld war explodes

A man has been shot in Sydney’s west within 48 hours after another shooting believed to be linked to the city’s ongoing gangland war.

Emergency services were called to Popendetta Rd in Blackett, near the intersection of Niland Cres, at around 9pm on Wednesday and found a man in his 20s with gunshot wounds to his face, chest and abdomen.

The toll rescue helicopter was sent to the suburb and the man was rushed to Westmead Hospital. His condition is unknown.

The shooting follows a suspected murder attempt on a man in Campsie, south-west Sydney, on Tuesday evening, who was ambushed while sitting in a car in an underground car park.
